The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) is one of the most popular Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) in Canada. The NBPNP allows the New Brunswick government to nominate immigrants to Canada to address the needs of the local labor market and economy.

Express Entry candidates can also benefit from a nomination under the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program.

Applicants who receive a New Brunswick Provincial Nomination can enjoy a fast-track route to obtaining permanent residence in Canada. Applicants applying to the New Brunswick PNP program can choose any of the five streams that is ideally suited to their requirements and future goals.

Previously, the New Brunswick PNP program offered a family support stream, which has been closed and is no longer accepting applications. To facilitate foreign nationals who desire to immigrate to the province, the New Brunswick authorities organize regular overseas events.

The province holds informative sessions and job fairs throughout the world, and applicants are advised to find such events in their area and supplement their applications. 

The New Brunswick Express Entry Labor Market Stream

The stream offers highly skilled foreign nationals with a fast-track to acquire permanent residence. Applicants who express their interest in this pathway must first enter the federal Express Entry pool. The province will issue nominations, and successful candidates can enjoy an expedited process to live and work in Canada permanently. 

New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream

This stream was temporarily closed on 18th October 2018, and this program is no longer accepting applications. The Entrepreneurial Stream is expected to resume in the future. This stream is designed to target individuals who are experienced entrepreneurs or have served in senior management positions. The applicants must be willing to invest in a new or existing business in New Brunswick and have sufficient funds to manage their business and settle themselves and their families/dependents. 

The Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream is designed to facilitate recent graduates from a university of college in New Brunswick, who have just opened or acquire a business in New Brunswick and operated this business for at least one year. If the candidate can fulfill the New Brunswick PNP requirements, and intend to permanently settle in the province, they can qualify for a New Brunswick provincial nomination through this stream. 

This New Brunswick immigration stream is temporarily paused but it is expected to become active in the future.

Business Applicants/ Entrepreneurial Stream Requirements
  • The applicant must submit a detailed business plan. 
  • Demonstrate experience in managing a business as an entrepreneur or senior business manager.
  • Offer irrefutable evidence of residing in New Brunswick.
  • Visit New Brunswick to conduct detailed research, and conduct interviews with an Immigrant Program Officer. 
  • Provide evidence of the personal net worth of at least CDN $300,000.00.
  • Willing to make an investment of at least CDB $125,000.00. 
  • Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French or both.
  • Willing to make a conditionally refundable deposit worth CDN $75,000.00.

This New Brunswick immigration stream also works in conjunction with the federal Express Entry System. Candidates must be added to the Express Entry pool to qualify for a New Brunswick provincial nomination. This stream is designed to allow the New Brunswick authorities to fulfill specific needs in the local labor market. 

Currently, applications for this stream is temporarily paused.

Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream Requirements
  • Age group: 22-40 years
  • Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French.
  • A valid work permit.
  • Obtain a degree from a university or college in New Brunswick while living in the province. 
  • Demonstrate intentions to stay and work in New Brunswick. 

The New Brunswick Employer Support Stream

The stream is designed to facilitate highly skilled and experienced foreign workers who have a valid job offer from an employer based in New Brunswick. 

Applicants can also apply for immigration through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). New Brunswick takes part in the AIPP, a joint program of the Atlantic provinces and the federal Canadian government aimed at attracting skilled professionals to contribute to the local economy. However, this program only facilitates immigration for candidates who have a valid job offer from a designated employer based in the Atlantic provinces.

This stream facilitates applicants who have a valid job offer from an employer based in New Brunswick.

Employer Support Stream Requirements:
  • Obtain a permanent full-time employment offer from an employer based in New Brunswick, and the position cannot be filled by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. 
  • The compensation must be in-line with provincial wages and collective bargaining agreements. 

Succession Connect Pilot Page

The Succession Connect Pilot Page program was launched to add another New Brunswick immigration stream designed to facilitate new immigrants in connection with permanent residents who own businesses. This program allows immigrants to examine business investments and opportunities, and local businesses can acquire talented and skilled professionals to fill vacant positions. 

This program aims to provide opportunities for immigrants and local business owners. It is expected that this program will be merged with the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP).
