The system manages three main federal economic immigration programs and is also linked to the province and territories’ Provincial Nominee Programs. Express Entry is one of the quickest and most efficient ways of immigrating to Canada.

The Basics
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry It is not a program but rather a system that manages the applications submitted under three federal economic immigration programs:
•Federal Skilled Worker Program
•Federal Skilled Trades Program
•Canadian Experience Class
It is based on a points system with the highest-ranked applicants receiving invitations to apply for permanent residency.
Can I Apply for Express Entry?
Yes! If you meet the criteria of at least one of the three economic programs, you can apply. All you need to do is create an Express Entry profile by providing details such as your education level, and work experience, language proficiency, marital status etc.
Once you submit your profile, you’ll get a CRS score to determine your ranking in the Express Entry pool.
What is a CRS Score?
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is a merit-based points system that helps the Canadian government assess and rank a candidate in the Express Entry pool. Applicants are assessed on factors such as; skills, education level, language ability, work experience and other factors.
The maximum CRS score is 1,200 points but the cut-offs for draws are much lower. The more points you get, the higher your chances of receiving an invitation.
How Long Does The Express Entry Process Take?
Express Entry has one of the fastest processing times and in most cases, it can take six months or less from when an applicant submits their profile to when they are issued their permanent resident visa.
However, not every applicant receives an invitation, so the processing time will vary. Applications are also being delayed due to COVID. All Express Entry profiles remain active in the pool for one year.
